The Cameras
ScooterCam's shoreline views come from a small set of purpose-mounted cameras, chosen and positioned to capture the lake from different angles throughout the day and at sunset.
The camera lineup
- TrackMix (PTZ, wide view) — a pan-tilt-zoom camera providing a wide "Panorama ScooterCam" style view, used for live snapshots, sunset timelapses, and rolling short-interval timelapses.
- Duo 3 (panorama) — a dual-lens panoramic camera providing a full wide-angle view of the shoreline, also feeding sunset and rolling timelapses.
- Cropped views (southeast / north) — two additional views are cropped from the panorama camera's feed, giving a "southeast" and a "north" perspective without needing extra hardware.
What they produce
- Live snapshots — refreshed regularly throughout the day
- Sunset timelapses — a dedicated timelapse assembled specifically around each day's sunset
- Rolling timelapses — shorter-interval timelapse video covering recent hours, so you can catch up on what the lake has been doing
All footage is processed automatically — there's no one manually uploading or editing video day to day. A small on-site computer handles capture scheduling, image processing, and getting everything to the website (see How ScooterCam Works for the bigger picture).
A note on reliability
Cameras occasionally go offline — weather, power, or connectivity issues happen on any outdoor camera system. When that happens, the site falls back to the last known good image rather than showing a broken feed, and it's typically resolved within a couple of hours.
