Midweek update

Almost all of Scootercam’s essential functions have been rewritten and improved by AI, and rebuilt as WordPress plugins. And I’m a bit stunned. I’ve been using Claude AI ($20 a month, so I need to finish soon). I’ve run into usage limits and Claude’s propensity to overthink solutions, but it’s been pretty solid. to The code, for the most part, goes beyond what I expected. Even the documentation is impressive.

For example, I wrote code that downloaded text forecasts for this area and for nearshore marine, and pulled chunks out so I could display it the way I liked. Now we have a WordPress plugin that uses this shortcode:

Some of the plugins have settings pages in WordPress, like the group below from the Sun and Moon plugin. This add a tone of new shortcodes, like

Coming up

  • Make sure all the plugins are efficiently using the same styles – most all of them will need to be rewritten, but I want everything to look nice and clean.
  • Create Git repositories for all the plugins and be able to pull the latest versions.
  • Double check the README files, make sure they’re right.
  • Complete the /notes blog structure: the staged WordPress site, LLC notes, the plugins, the journal, and room for more later.
  • Start shopping for a new webhost.
