Live Timelapse System

This automated camera system creates smooth time-lapse videos showing the passage of time throughout each day and night.

How It Works

Two security cameras continuously capture still photos every 15 seconds. These images are automatically assembled into fast-motion videos that compress hours of real time into just minutes of viewing.

Daily Video Collection

Each day produces 8 complete timelapse videos:

Amcrest Camera Views:

  • Day Video (8am – 4pm) – Daytime activity compressed into a few minutes
  • Evening Video (4pm – midnight) – Afternoon and evening transitions
  • Night Video (midnight – 8am) – Overnight activity and early morning
  • Sunset Video – Golden hour footage (30 minutes before and after sunset)

Reolink Camera Views:

  • Day Video (8am – 4pm) – Alternative angle of daytime activity
  • Evening Video (4pm – midnight) – Evening perspective
  • Night Video (midnight – 8am) – Night and dawn coverage
  • Sunset Video – Golden hour from second camera position

Technical Details

The system automatically adjusts sunset timing throughout the year based on Douglas, Michigan coordinates. Videos update in real-time as new footage arrives, so you can watch the current day unfold live.

Each video shows approximately 8 hours of real time compressed into 3-8 minutes of viewing, depending on the day’s activity level. The sunset videos focus specifically on the most visually striking time of day, capturing dramatic lighting changes and sky colors.

Videos are stored with date stamps and can be accessed through the archive for historical viewing.
